Finally, the exams are over. Weeks over weeks the only thing you saw were books and scripts. It seems on if you haven´t seen your family and friends for years. But inside you are still thinking on your final exams.  Did I solve task 2 correctly? Hopefully the exams are positive! What happens if not?

But anyway, it´s already done. You should now take this time to recover from this phase. The next semester is coming soon. You need the energy for this period. To prevent this from happening to you, I will show you how you can recover quickly and thoroughly from a stressful examination phase.

Mental completion
There’s no point in mourning your exams. Constant brooding, self-doubt and reproaches will not help you. Of course you should do better next time but try to make a mental note and go on.

Have fun
Passion and enthusiasm are the greatest sources of energy and can contribute to your recovery in an amazing way. Go out with your friends. Take a short vacation. Spend time with your family. Just do something that makes you happy.

Sleep
Especially during the examination phase the sleep deficit usually reaches its peak. But the good news is that you can catch up on sleep. And that’s exactly what you should do. Get a good night’s sleep for few days in a row. Your body will thank you.

Conquer your weaker self

Do you also have a name for your weaker self? The name of mine is Giorgy.  Normally Giorgy is very quiet and shy but needs attention exactly at the most stressful times.

Chocolate, lying on the couch, watching tv instead of learning for exams and no healthy diet. My lack of discipline and motivation make it easy for Giorgy to win each time.

But why is it that the inner bastard always takes control? Here are some tips on how to conquer your own weaker self:

Do it immediatly
The saying “never put off till tomorrow what you can do today” should be your best friend. Start now and not at a much later date. Make some deadlines for yourself. After you have finished one topic you will feel positively better. Motivation will increase automatically.

Set a target
You need a goal that you are working towards and that you are pursuing. Perhaps you want to get better marks in your exams, finish projects earlier or to do homework immediately. Keep this goal in mind when the motivation threatens to let you down.

Reward yourself
To maintain your motivation, you should reward yourself. If you reach a goal treat yourself to something nice. This way you will have something to look forward to in advance and it will even make it a little easier for you to pull yourself together.

Let´s be honest. Occasionally your inner bastard comes out. It’s certainly not the end of the world, but many people tend to turn a one-off event into a trend. Forgotten are all the goals and you leave the field to your inner bastard.

Remember your goals and your motivation again and keep fighting.
